Hello,
I have been quite busy these past view months. Tons of Tyson Ballew solo shows and new tapes out! Here is a quick update on whats been happening:

New Releases:
Poor School Live at The Raven Cafe 2006! A 24 minute cassingle from Missoula's premiere post punk, avant weird, improv, noise, jazz three piece. The group just played Total Fest here in Missoula and were right on! This track is a 4 tracked set from a show at the now defunct Raven Cafe. The show was with usaisamonster. Perfect and lo-fi. The B-side is a surprise. Limited to 100 cassettes.

Also a new Tyson Ballew EP called The Summer of Dodos. It is also a limited 100 copy cassette release. It has six songs I recorded in my kitchen on Front Street.

Downloads:
I have been slowly but surely adding most of the out of print albums up as mp3's in the catalog. Most recently I put up The Monsters! album Dance Party Massacre. It's 13 lo-fi zombie pop punk songs. Really fucking great stuff. It's free but you may also if inclined donate through pay pal at tummyrock@yahoo.com. I hope to get most of the out of print stuff online before the end of the year.

Plans:
Unsure if there will be any future releases in 2009, but Noise Noise Noise, me (Tyson Ballew), are working on new songs and preparing material for new albums that will probably see 2010 releases. The website should see more frequent updates as will the blog. Stay tuned. Thanks.

Tons of shows and new releases

Hey there. Just so you know, Tyson Ballew has a new album out available from Tummy Rock for $5 on cdr and from www.masarecords.com on cassette. Also within the week The Future is Tummy... a 21 plus track cd of Tummy Rock bands will be available for free at earcandy and with any other tummy rock purchase. In other news I am looking for an intern. Someone who won't worry about getting paid but would like experience working for a label. The responsibilities would be. Review for Fruit Trees for Cassowaries

Tyson Ballew created two albums under the moniker Old Shoes, but Fruit Trees for Cassowaries—released under his name—has all the attributes a first solo album should have: passionate music, unashamedly autobiographical lyrics and room to grow.

Instrumental flourishes, including synthesized xylophones, accordions, and a toy piano, all lend a fresh, optimistic tone to the effort. The upbeat attitude is mirrored in Ballew’s earnest lyrics, which, despite some bleak moments, are mostly honest and hopeful. “Things Are Different Now” contains the line “I still believe in the songs we’d sing…There’s still time, we can change this world. At least we can change ourselves.” And with a voice reminiscent of both Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and the Fruit Bat’s Eric Johnson, Ballew admits the ironic truth that “Everyone inspires me except for maybe those rock stars, ’cause they are selling sadness and apathy.” This indictment of the modern music machine fits perfectly with songs advocating for small-town punk teens in “Electric City Hardcore” and lonely lovers in “Bumble Bee.”

Ballew exudes hopeless romanticism, an endearing quality that will hopefully continue to flavor his future music.

Tummy Rock Lives!

Hola from the warm tropic of Great Falls Mont,
Christmas is about to "blow up" in my house, but I wanted to let everyone know that to Tummy Rock Records is alive and well. The new year will host new releases. Fruit Trees for Cassowaries by Tyson Ballew will be available on compact disc at the record release show February 10th at the Badlander. Also our friends at MASA records will be releasing the cassette version which will include two exclusive tracks and all the money made from the tape release will benefit the Rock and Roll Camp for Girls. Hope your having a wonderful holiday, and I hope you got things you didn't expect you would want or need. Stay tuned for alot of updates...for real this time.

My heart is too broken and my wallet is too empty to keep running this label. I have to find a new way of doing things. Best Boy Electric is done, we have one more show and it's over after that. Sorry. All of our releases that are in print are still available from the bands: Two Year Touqe's "in the elephant garden" can be purchased from the band, myspace.com/twoyeartouqe, and Noise Noise Noise's new album "Blazing Hot Title Track" will be available from them as well myspace.com/noisenoisenoise. I still have a bunch of we like to kick ass comps. And if you want the last tummyrock release better ask these guys: myspace.com/holysmokesfather.

I still plan to write and record albums but it is unlikely anything new will come out on tummy rock records. However this site will still be used to put up a ton of mp3's of all the new songs I am writing and the catalog will be updated with most of the out of print material available for FREE. Hello,
I've got good news and bad news. First with the bad. Our friends Paul and Sarah are moving and we are playing one last Two Year Touqe show in Missoula before that happens. Please come:
Two Year Touqe, The Pasties, The Pleasureboaters, Best Boy Electric (old shoes), and cinnemax will all perform at Free Cycles at 8pm Wednesday April 2nd. Please attend and bring money for the touring bands.

The good news is old shoes got a stellar review in this weeks independent, check it out!

Online Albums

I forgot to mention that now that I can update the website you should expect to see most of the out of print and back catalog albums available as mp3's. Also this is going to begin an exciting chapter of new albums available only off the website for FREE. Yes we are not shifting to pay for downloads like some other labels. Simply I have a need to create and share. Sometimes what I make is not necessarily something that alot of people are going to want to listen too. So instead of slaving away making 50 CD's that I will struggle to sell I am going to post up the weirder stuff that you probably aren't going to buy. This saves me money, still makes my art accessable to those who want it and makes me feel cool. You will be able to download the artwork so you can have a physical copy of the album if you wish. Heres whats going to be coming out soon only on the website:

Big Updates

Hi,
So now that TV is not distracting me here are some details about whats going on......
We can update the website again so expect more FREE downloads and older albums up in the catalog in a few days. Secondly we are not planning to put out too much other than the tummy rock sampler sometime soon, but not too soon. School is a drag but it is almost over and then I can concentrate on what I like to do. But Tummy Rock bands are up to alot! Check it!

Two Year Touqe is playing a couple more shows before moving in May so go see them while you can!

Wow. What a surprise. Never heard of these folks and they fuckin' smoke. Over-cranked distorto garage pop punk. Sounding like the bastard child of SCARED OF CHAKA, FYP, and even the MARKED MEN. The songs are all over the yard, from 40-second blazers to anthemic pop numbers. It's rough and scrappy with hooks galore...and I'm sure a blast live. Every song on this little gem is a keeper and like most bands from the arse end of nowhere (Montana) they have tons of personality and originality. Class.
